Ziggie Bergman

exhibition date: till June 30th 2012

Photography
Ziggie Bergman

In her most recent work Ziggie Bergman critically dissects the theme of hair focusing on it as an abstract landscape. Evoking both the nurturing, sensual and historical power of it's growing and flowing in various photographic forms. She juxtaposed this simple clean visual with graphite pencil drawing, obsessive by nature and meditative in production, tracing the fluid expanse of line created in the images.

This series of work draws the viewer into the maze of swirls, pattern and infinite possibility. An intervention of the ordinary, the spaces in between, the unremarkable and yet beautiful. The artist's intention is to invite the audience to re-investigate an every day texture they touch, feel and see. Choreographing her mixed media materials voice for grandeur into simple yet arresting abstract landscape's.

With a background as a successful director and photographer for MTV and Vogue light, line and form have always been a passion whatever the medium used.

Gabriella Marks

Triggerfinger Photography represents the imagery of Gabriella Marks, a Santa Fe based photographer specializing in environmental portraiture, life style and travel imagery. She is drawn like the proverbial moth to the bright light of spectacle, particularly when high decible marshalls or the inadvisable use of fire is involved.

On a balmy night in October, 2006, Gabriella glided into a harbor of Malta, aboard a ferry from Sicily. She had not previously seen a single image of Malta, and the vision of the towering fortress walls of the city of Valetta looming above the water, the white stone gleaming in the light from the streetlights and stars, was one of the most epic moments in her life.

The island nation of Malta is is located directly beneath Sicily, just beyond the boot toe of Italy. The three islands that constitute Malta were of tremendous strategic importance during the rise and fall of both Eastern and Western empires - from the Ottoman to the British. The dynamic interplay between arabic influence and christianity evolved some of the most fascinating iconography in the world. The Maltese language is the only Semitic language written in the Latin alphabet in its standard form. The islands are composed of a porous white rock which was to create cities and the towering fortress walls with which the Maltese strove to defend themselves from foreign attacks. In addition to fortresses and catacombs from the Middle Ages, Malta features some of the oldest religious temples in the world, including the megalithic Ġgantija temples, built during the Neolithic Age (c. 3600-2500 BC), potentially pre-dating Stonehenge.

J.Kelley Tait Fletcher - 'The Railyard Series'

exhibition date: Jan 15th till March 15th 2011

Photography
Born: Detroit, Michigan
Resident of Santa Fe, NM
J.Kelley Taia Fletcher

Whether through drawing, Painting, Photographs, or sculpture, making art has alwats been a part of my life. For me that sensibility touches on many aspects of the everyday in life: clothes, food, the physical organization of things. (Doing, timing, attitudes, etc, exist in a whole other orbit.) In making the art i know of, some of my formal interests have to do with the interplay between the liberal and the abstract, the lyricism of line, color and shape.

Usually my focus swings from making literal/Abstracted images of the human figure, to making completely non-objective images - an exercise like breathing.

Jennifer Jesse Smith - 'Jewelry for the Soulful'

exhibition date: Jan 15th till March 15th 2011

Fine Jewelry
Resident of Albuquerque, NM Jennifer Jesse Smith

Since time began adornments have been treasured for the power they bestow upon the wearer. In keeping with this tradition and true to it’s name, "Mojo"- Jennifer Jesse Smith's new line is an uncompromising expression of spirit, art and passion. Fashioned to be felt; not just worn. Conceived and brought to life by an artist whose hands began their journey at the age of seven when she was awed by her first visit to Paris and the Louvre.

She then went on to ground her talent even as she was pushing it to new heights, earning a BFA in sculpture from one of the most rigorous schools in the country: The School Of The Art Institute Of Chicago. Her adventures led her into the motion picture biz where she designed medicine warrior talismans outfitting more than two hundred warriors. Costuming in L.A., New Mexico and trawling New York's hippest scenes...a junkie not just for art, but for the way people draw power from it - Jennifer Jesse Smith designs pieces of power, passion and beauty for those with enough mojo to wear them.

Nina Friday

Inspired by depression era photographs, film noir and images from her sweetly twisted subconscious, artist Nina Friday paints an ambiance whose time and place is left to the viewers digression.

This world is filled with large eyed vixens, dime store hustlers and street children with sinister smiles sheltered in a ominous sepia toned veil. These wolves in sheep clothing are painted with an elegant fade, everyday folks aspiring look their best, but what are they suppressing ? a secret or just a hardened soul. Peeping at her nostalgic entities one gets the sense that these are people that you shouldnt turn your back on and you sure dont want to bump into any of them in a darkened alley, unless your looking for a good time.

As a medium Nina uses acrylic paint on wood panels which is then distressed and finally mounted in a hand painted foundOR A VINTAGE frame to compliment each piece. Nina Friday is a self taught artist from St. Petersburg, Russia whose works can be found in galleries across the country including the Alcove Gallery in Atlanta, Saints and Sinners in Baltimore, River's Edge in Michigan and Delilah's in Chicago, Kayo gallery in SLC, Strychnin gallery in Berlin, Germany...
